Common Causes of Water Damage in Mint Hill
Most of the flooding we extract in Mint Hill traces back to a handful of sources. Fast action keeps a wet room from becoming a replaced floor.
-
Burst or frozen pipesA single burst or frozen pipe can soak carpet, padding, and subfloor in minutes.
-
Appliance & water-heater leaksWashing machines, dishwashers, and water heaters fail and leak, often while no one's home.
-
Storm & heavy-rain floodingCharlotte's heavy storms push water into basements, crawlspaces, and ground-floor rooms.
-
Sump-pump failureA sump pump that quits during a storm lets groundwater rise into finished space.
-
Overflowing sinks & tubsA forgotten tub or a clogged sink overflows and spreads across the floor fast.

How fast can you respond to flooding?
We offer 24/7 emergency response and aim to reach you as quickly as possible — call right away, because every hour matters with water damage.
What should I do while I wait for you?
If it's safe, stop the water at its source. Move furniture, rugs, and electronics off the wet area, and don't use a household vacuum on standing water.
Can wet carpet and padding be saved?
Often, yes — if the water is clean and extracted quickly, carpet usually survives. Heavily saturated padding may need replacement. We'll tell you honestly before any work begins.
Do you work with insurance?
We can document the damage and the work performed to support your insurance claim.
Is Metro Steamway licensed & insured?
Yes. We're fully insured and our technicians are IICRC master-certified. We've been locally owned and family run in Charlotte since 1988.
Do you offer any kind of guarantees?
We stand behind every job. It's very rare we encounter a problem we can't solve.
What happens if I'm unsatisfied?
We have never experienced client dissatisfaction in over 30 years. We stay until the job is done.
We have a long gravel drive and a lot of red clay. Can you get it out of the carpet?
Usually, yes. Clay and grit settle into the base of the carpet where a vacuum cannot reach. Hot water extraction flushes them out and stands the pile back up.
Do you clean tile and grout too?
Yes. Our high-pressure hot-water process flushes years of clay and grime out of the grout lines and restores the tile in kitchens, baths, and mudrooms.
How long does the carpet take to dry?
Usually a few hours. The truck-mounted system pulls most of the water back out, so the carpet is dry the same day. In Charlotte's humidity that matters, since a carpet left damp can take on a musty smell.
