About Our Upholstery Cleaning
Most sofas and chairs clean in a single visit in Cotswold, and dry within 4–6 hours. We tune the method to your specific fabric so delicate materials stay safe.
“Brian is a miracle worker. My couch was overdue for a thorough cleaning.”
Our Upholstery Cleaning Process
- Before we arrive we ask that loose pets find a safe spot while we work.
- We identify the fabric and test a hidden area before cleaning.
- Body oils, food residue, and everyday grime are pre-treated.
- Gentle hot-water extraction lifts the soil out of the fabric.
- We deodorize, and apply optional fabric protector if you'd like.
- We inspect the finished furniture with you, then finalize the invoice.

What Settles Into Cotswold Furniture
Upholstery absorbs far more than it shows. Here's what we lift out of Cotswold sofas and chairs.
-
Body oils & sweatSkin oils build up on arms, seats, and headrests, darkening the fabric over time.
-
Food & drinkSnacks on the couch leave residue and set stains that dull the fabric.
-
Pet dander & hairPets on the furniture work dander and hair deep into the weave.
-
Dust & allergensUpholstery acts like a filter, holding dust and allergens that settle out of the air.
-
Pollen from open windowsSpring pollen drifts in and settles into cushions near windows.

Can you clean any type of fabric?
We identify the fabric and adjust our method — some delicate materials need a low-moisture approach. We always test a hidden area first to keep your furniture safe.
How long does upholstery take to dry?
Typically 4–6 hours depending on the fabric and airflow in the room.
Can you remove pet odor from a couch?
Usually, yes. Odor soaks into the cushions and padding, so we treat it at the source rather than masking it with a surface spray.
Is Metro Steamway licensed & insured?
Yes. We're fully insured and our technicians are IICRC master-certified. We've been locally owned and family run in Charlotte since 1988.
Do you offer any kind of guarantees?
We stand behind every job. It's very rare we encounter a problem we can't solve.
What happens if I'm unsatisfied?
We have never experienced client dissatisfaction in over 30 years. We stay until the job is done.
Can you clean a wool or Oriental rug in the home?
Yes. We clean rugs right on your floor. We identify the fiber, test the dyes, and use a method the rug can handle, so it never leaves your home.
Is your cleaning gentle enough for an older Cotswold or Foxcroft home?
Yes. The truck-mounted system is strong but controlled, wool and older rugs are cleaned at a lower temperature and moisture level than synthetic carpet, and fast drying keeps moisture off original hardwood and trim.
How long does the carpet take to dry?
Usually a few hours. The truck-mounted system pulls most of the water back out, so the carpet is dry the same day. In Charlotte's humidity that matters, since a carpet left damp can take on a musty smell.
