A lot of the newer work in 28210 and 28211 is up in the towers — the condos and high-rises that have gone up around Morrison and Sharon over the last couple of decades. Cleaning a unit on the 15th floor is a genuinely different job than pulling into a driveway and rolling a hose across the lawn, and the crews that only do ground-level houses tend to find that out the hard way. Our truck-mounted units are built to push and pull over distance — that's the whole point of a truck-mount versus a portable — so we can park where the building tells us to, run our lines up through the freight elevator or the stairwell, and still hit the water temperature and the vacuum recovery it takes to actually clean the carpet and get it dry. Step off the condo circuit and a big share of SouthPark is settled, moneyed, and decades old — the brick ranches and two-stories that filled in around Foxcroft, Barclay Downs, and the streets running toward Myers Park and Eastover back when the mall first opened in 1970. Homes like that are where you find the materials the newer suburbs mostly don't: wool carpet, wool-blend runners on the stairs, natural-fiber Berbers, and the good area rugs — hand-knotted wool and silk Orientals that have been in the dining room or under the living-room seating for thirty years. All of that is beautiful and all of it is unforgiving if you clean it like builder-grade nylon.
Wool is pH-sensitive. Hit it with a high-alkaline detergent meant for synthetics, or over-wet it and leave it slow to dry, and you can brown it, felt the pile, or make older dyes bleed into each other — damage that no amount of re-cleaning walks back. We treat wool as wool: gentler, wool-safe chemistry, controlled moisture, and enough extraction and airflow that it dries before any of that has a chance to start. Someone tracked red clay across the carpet. Can you get it out?
Usually yes, as long as it hasn't been scrubbed with a store cleaner first. Carolina red clay is iron-rich, and hard rubbing with the wrong product can bond it into the fiber and set it for good. The best thing you can do is let it dry, vacuum up the loose crumbs, and leave the rest to us — don't soak it in anything. Caught reasonably fresh and treated correctly, clay lifts clean nearly every time. Call before you fight it and you'll get a far better result.
How long will the carpet take to dry, and what's the guarantee?
