What Settles Into Mint Hill Rugs
Rugs hold grit deep in the foundation where a vacuum can't reach. Here's what we pull out of Mint Hill rugs most.
-
Grit in the foundationFine dirt sinks to the base of the pile and grinds against the fibers every time someone walks across the rug.
-
Pet accidents & odorUrine soaks into the foundation and backing, so a surface spray only masks it — we treat it at the source.
-
Spring pollen{LOC}'s heavy oak pollen settles into rugs near doors and windows every spring.
-
Red clay from the yardCarolina red clay tracks in off shoes and paws and stains light wool and cotton rugs fast.
-
Food & drink spillsDining-room and kitchen rugs take the brunt of spills that dry into set stains.

How long does rug cleaning take?
Most area rugs take under an hour to clean in your home. Drying depends on the fiber and thickness, but most rugs are dry within a few hours.
Do you pick up and deliver?
No. We clean your rugs right in your home, so you don't have to haul them anywhere or wait to get them back.
Do you clean Persian, Oriental, and antique rugs?
Yes — handmade rugs are a specialty. We test dye stability first, use methods suited to the rug's age and construction, and give fringe and edges hand attention.
How often should an area rug be cleaned?
Every 1–3 years for most rugs, depending on traffic and pets. Lift a corner and slap the back — if dust puffs out, the foundation is holding grit that's wearing the fibers down.
Is Metro Steamway licensed & insured?
Yes. We're fully insured and our technicians are IICRC master-certified. We've been locally owned and family run in Charlotte since 1988.
Do you offer any kind of guarantees?
We stand behind every job. It's very rare we encounter a problem we can't solve.
What happens if I'm unsatisfied?
We have never experienced client dissatisfaction in over 30 years. We stay until the job is done.
We have a long gravel drive and a lot of red clay. Can you get it out of the carpet?
Usually, yes. Clay and grit settle into the base of the carpet where a vacuum cannot reach. Hot water extraction flushes them out and stands the pile back up.
Do you clean tile and grout too?
Yes. Our high-pressure hot-water process flushes years of clay and grime out of the grout lines and restores the tile in kitchens, baths, and mudrooms.
How long does the carpet take to dry?
Usually a few hours. The truck-mounted system pulls most of the water back out, so the carpet is dry the same day. In Charlotte's humidity that matters, since a carpet left damp can take on a musty smell.
